I’ve been playing drums for two decades, and at 26 years old that sounds very odd to write. I had literally been playing pots and pans before I’d even started going to school. To be more specific, I used to have biscuit tins on the floor with baking paper held on with rubber bands for skins. Saucepan lids for cymbals a trusty chopsticks for sticks. My parents, who have never stopped being overwhelmingly supportive of my passion put up with what I can only imagine was the most ungodly noise a household could produce.
I started getting drum lessons at school in the fourth grade and received my first entry level drum kit at 12. I met my first band in seventh grade through the school “rock band” For my 15th birthday I received my first real drum kit, hand picked by my drum teacher at the time, Luke Williams, Now of Dead Letter Circus, A Mapex V-Series 5pc rock kit with a ZBT cymbal pack. Zildjian have since then been the only cymbal brand producing products I truly connect with.
For a while I Tried other brands and even got endorsed with another company but nothing I used ever felt or sounded like the Zildjian brand I grew up with.
In November of 2016 I purchased an entire new set of Zildjian cymbals and made the full transition to exclusively using Zildjian products after watching countless videos and interviews with the only person who I truly get all of my inspiration from, Dan Searle of Architects. Within weeks I was in contact with AMS and submitted my endorsement kit. I have never been more proud to receive an endorsement with a brand I literally developed and grew up on.
